Important Information About the Essay
Your essay must be composed and submitted in the essay box provided on your online application.
An essay is only required of first-year applicants wishing to be considered for honors programs or scholarships. However, when deciding whether or not to submit an essay with your application, all applicants should please consider the following:
- First-year honors and scholarship candidates submitting an essay must submit their complete application (including transcripts and test scores) by the priority date of December 1.
- For all other applicants, while the essay is not required, all students may benefit from submitting the essay.
- Essays submitted on paper separately from the application will not be considered.
- It is not possible to return to an already submitted application to submit the essay. So if you plan on submitting an essay:
- Preview the essay question on the application.
- Compose and edit your essay in a Word document, making certain that it does not exceed 3,800 characters in length, including spaces.
- Prior to submitting the application, copy and paste it into the essay box provided on the application.
