Documentation provided in conjunction with the ISFS to prove that required money is available for the support of the student while at Rutgers.
- Sponsor of student may submit an employer letter in lieu of bank letter as long as the sponsor lives in the U.S.
- Documentation must always be in U.S. dollars.
- Documents must be original and on bank stationery.
- Photocopies will not be accepted.

Green Card
Slang term describing the Alien Registration Receipt Card. It used
to be green, which is how it became known as "green card." Identifies
the holder as a permanent resident of the U.S.

I-20
Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Student Visa Holder
Document for someone who has F-1 (student visa) immigration status. Student takes this document to the U.S. embasssy to apply for a visa for entry into the U.S.

I-94 Arrival-Departure Record
Issued to incoming aliens as evidence of alien registration and to identify them as legally permitted to enter the United States. It is a 3x5 white card that specifies the immigration status of its holder. It is kept stapled inside the passport.

ISAR-International Student Advisor's Report
This form is completed by the student and foreign student advisor
at the student's current school then submitted to the school of
transfer. This form is absolutely necessary in order to complete
the transfer from your previous school to Rutgers. It also gives
Rutgers University your SEVIS release date. The release date tells
Rutgers University when they may issue your new I-20.

ISFS-International Student Financial Statement
A Rutgers University form completed by the student and sponsor informing the university how the funding for the student will be provided while they attend the university. No substitute form is acceptable.

TOEFL-Test of English as a Foreign Language
Exam given worldwide to test the English proficiency of prospective
students or workers who want to come to the U.S. or Canada. If the
student takes the examination by computer the acceptable score is
213 or higher. If the student takes the test via paper and pencil,
acceptable score is 550. An acceptable score for the Internet-based test is 79+. NOTE: For College of Nursing
applicants, the acceptable scores are 600+ on the paper and pencil
test, 250+ on the computer test, or 100+ on the Internet-based test.
NOTE: All TOEFL tests
must be taken at an ETS/TOEFL approved test site. Students will
need to contact the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ,
for further information:

Visa
Stamp issued by a U.S. consul abroad that
allows holder to enter the U.S. The stamp is placed on a page of
the passport by a consular officer. The U.S. visa stamp indicates
that the consular official has determined the holder qualified to
apply for admission into the U.S. in a particular immigration classification.
