Opportunities for Nontraditional Students at
Rutgers-New Brunswick
The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is dedicated to serving the needs of nontraditional students on the New Brunswick/ Piscataway Campus, including returning adults whose formal education has been interrupted, students needing to pursue higher education on a part-time basis, post-baccalaureate students pursuing a second undergraduate degree or major, and non-degree students. Nontraditional SAS students will enjoy:
- Courses offered from early morning through late evening and even on Saturday
- Access to the full range of SAS majors and minors, including a number which can be completed through study in the evening only
- Many options for completing a second undergraduate degree, a second major, or coursework to prepare for entry into professional school programs
- A full range of academic support programs and student services available in the evening
- Specialized academic advising and co-curricular programming geared to the needs and interests of returning adult or part-time students
Nontraditional SAS students are invited to affiliate with the University College Community, which provides specialized programs and services to promote the academic success of nontraditional students and foster a strong sense of community. Nontraditional-age women also have the option of participating in the Mary I. Bunting Program, which is offered through the Douglass Residential College.
