NJ Stars II
Eligibility:
- Be an authorized NJ STARS recipient at one of New Jersey’s 19 public community colleges.
- Apply for financial aid by completing and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Enroll at and complete an associate’s degree at a New Jersey community college as an NJ STAR within five consecutive semesters (not including summer sessions).
- Have received a scholarship under the NJ STARS program, or have been eligible for but did not receive a scholarship under NJ STARS because the student’s tuition and fees were fully covered by other State and federal need-based grant and merit scholarships.
- Have attained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 each semester through the second academic year of study.
- Have been admitted and submitted to Rutgers University’s undergraduate admissions office a final official transcript certifying that student has earned an associate’s degree with the date of completion. Student must be certain the degree is noted on the transcript. A transcript including final grades but no notation of degree may be used for credit evaluation, but is not sufficient for NJ STARS II verification.
- Be enrolled for a minimum of 12 (non-remedial) credits in a baccalaureate degree program at Rutgers University immediately following the receipt of the associate's degree. A student choosing to wait one semester prior to enrolling in a baccalaureate program at Rutgers University may do so, provided no academic coursework is undertaken in the time between receiving the associate's degree and enrolling at Rutgers University. The student must enroll at Rutgers University no later than the second semester following graduation from the county college to remain eligible for the NJ STARS II award.
Annual Award and Terms:
- The remaining cost of tuition and mandatory fees, for up to 18 credits per semester.
- Must earn a minimum 3.0 grade-point average prior to start of third semester of study at Rutgers University to maintain eligibility.
- Must maintain continuous full-time enrollment unless on institution and Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA) approved leave of absence.
- Renewable for up to four semesters, excluding summer sessions.
How to Apply:
- No separate application.
- All eligible students should notify HESAA of their intent to enroll at Rutgers University.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships
Eligibility:
- Enrolled in a transfer program at a New Jersey community college.
- Member of the county college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
- New Jersey resident, United States citizen or permanent resident, and a full-time student.
- Associate’s degree in arts or science received by the time of enrollment with a minimum grade-point average of 3.8 to compete for the scholarship. All courses taken at the NJ community college are considered and, if necessary, the grade-point average is recalculated to include all courses.
- Students must enroll directly from the NJ community college from which they are receiving the associate’s degree with no intervening enrollment.
Annual Award and Terms:
- $8,000 per year.
- Renewable for one year.
- Must earn a 3.0 grade-point average for renewal.
How to Apply:
- No separate application.
- Recipients selected from transfer student applications. submitted by January 15.
- Scholarship winners are notified in April.

Francis B. and Paige D. L’Hommedieu Scholarships
Eligibility:
- Must be enrolled in a transfer program at a New Jersey community college.
- Must have received an associate’s degree by following September.
- Must have minimum grade-point average of 3.7.
- Must be a New Jersey resident, United States citizen or permanent resident, and a full-time student.
Annual Award and Terms:
- $3,500 per year.
- Renewable for one year.

- No separate application.
- Recipients selected from transfer student applications submitted by January 15.

Eligibility:
- Must be enrolled in a transfer program at a community college outside of New Jersey.
- Must have an associate’s degree in arts or science received by the time of enrollment.
- Must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.8 to compete for the scholarship.
- Must be an out-of-state resident, United States citizen or permanent resident.
- Must be a full-time student.
Annual Award and Terms:
- $8,000 per year.
- Renewable for one year.
- Must earn a 3.0 grade-point average for renewal.
How to Apply:
- No separate application.
- Recipients selected from transfer student applications submitted by January 15.
- Scholarship winners are notified in April.
