Sandra Guzman '85, served as editor-in-chief of Latina, the first national bilingual lifestyle magazine for the U.S. Hispanic market. She's an award-winning journalist, securing an Emmy for her Telemundo special on the U. S. Cuban embargo. Guzman currently is writing a self-help book for the modern Hispanic woman, The Latina Bible, and is the editor-in-chief of a new Hispanic woman's web site: Soloella.com.

David Stern '63, leads the National Basketball Association (NBA). During his tenure as commissioner, the NBA has added six franchises, expanded its national television exposure, and launched the Women's National Basketball Association.

Calista Flockhart '88, best known for her title role in Ally McBeal, won a Best Actress Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Emmy for her work in the hit television series. Flockhart also earned rave reviews for her Broadway performances in The Glass Menagerie and the off-Broadway play Bash.

Robert Pinsky '62, was appointed the U. S. Poet Laureate in 1997. Pinsky is the poetry editor for the online magazine Slate and teaches creative writing at Boston University.

Deron L. Cherry, the former Rutgers grid-iron star, rose steadily in the worlds of business and professional sports. He played defensive back for the Kansas City Chiefs, is a successful business entrepreneur, and is one of the first African-Americans to co-own a professional NFL football team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.
