Janet Schneider Evanovich
Author
You can take the girl out of New Jersey, but apparently you can’t take the New Jersey out of the girl. Although she now lives in New Hampshire, South River native Janet Schneider Evanovich has remained true to her Garden State roots with her immensely popular comedy-crime novels featuring bounty hunter Stephanie Plum.
Mrs. Evanovich began writing the books several years ago after tiring of writing romance novels. The number-one New York Times best-selling Plum novels have been described as part Indiana Jones, part Moonlighting, and part Midnight Run. Like Mrs. Evanovich, Stephanie Plum is a Jersey girl through and through—tough, funny, and wise. Her literary endeavors have engendered a family business, Evanovich, Inc., which includes her husband, Peter Evanovich, a mathematician with three degrees from Rutgers, and their son and daughter.
Mrs. Evanovich was awarded the Dilys Award by the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association and the Crime Writers Association’s John Creasey Memorial Dagger. In 1998, she participated in a program at Douglass College celebrating the donation of a collection of papers by Sisters in Crime, an association of women mystery writers. She was inducted into the Douglass Society in 2000.
Ms. Evanovich graduated from Rutgers with a degree in visual arts.
