James Tupper
Actor

James Tupper, who plays "Jack" in ABC's "Men in Trees," was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was recently voted one of US Magazine’s “10 Sexiest Men on TV.”

When he was in high school, he participated in a student exchange program which took him to East Africa near the foothills of Mt. Kenya. He spent the year with a family on their coffee farm learning how to speak Swahili.

After Africa he attended drama school in Montreal, studied in New York, and then went on to perform in various different shows.

Tupper most recently appeared as Henry in the Hallmark Channel's original movies, "Love's Long Journey,” and "Love's Abiding Joy" written and directed by Michael Landon, Jr.

Other television appearances include "How I Met Your Mother," "Gilmore Girls," "CSI New York," "Dr. Vegas" and "Time of Your Life." He has been seen in the independent films "For Heaven's Sake" (with Florence Henderson) and as Ken Kesey in the biopic "Who Flew?" about Kesey's time spent writing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

Tupper also co-conceived and wrote "Loudmouth Soup," a fully improvised film shot in one night. Other film appearances include "Joe Dirt," "Corky Romano" and "Peroxide Passion."

His theatrical performances include roles in the Off-Broadway plays "An Actor Prepares" and "After the Rain." In Los Angeles he has appeared in "Alone Together" with Anita Gillette and David Heddison, as well as in "Things We Do for Love," opposite Greg Mullavey at the Odyssey Theatre, and in "King Lear" with James Gammon.

Tupper graduated with a B.F.A. in acting from Mason Gross School of the Arts.
