College Academic Excellence Award.
I’ve been fortunate to have had an upbringing that allowed me to get the best of the east and west, having lived in both India as well as the U.S. along with a four-month stay in Sydney, Australia. I thought I was diverse, but my first year at Rutgers made me realize I knew nothing about diversity. The various people I’ve met here have taught me so much and given me such perspective.
Rutgers Experiences
I don’t even know where to start. I’ve given a tour to a group of honors students from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil; watched R&B group "112" perform at the Busch Student Center; sang solo in front of an audience of 700 people, founded an A Cappella organization; listened to great men such as Paul Rusesabagina (the real man from the film "Hotel Rwanda"); stood for a continuous 32 hours at Dance Marathon; and made some of the most amazing friendships. The exciting thing is that list doesn’t even cover it all. Words can’t explain what an experience Rutgers has been for me.

Why Rutgers?
I have a better question: Why not?
Maroon 5, Usher, Three Doors Down, anything A Cappella, and I love Indian music
The Rule of Four, by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason; The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho; The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri
A History of Activism
"It's always been an activist campus," said Sandra Lanman, a Rutgers spokeswoman who was also a student at the university at the height of the protest movement. "This is a really diverse campus," Lanman added. "You have a diversity not only of ethnicity, but viewpoints."
