| Rutgers Reflects the World |
I am 1/4 Irish and 3/4 Italian; I found the diversity at Rutgers extremely beneficial to my college experience. Meeting and interacting with other students from all over the country and globe opened my eyes to many lifestyles, experiences, and viewpoints that I had not previously been attuned to. I think that being immersed in a diverse college setting helped me become a well rounded and worldly person who is capable of handling unique interactions in the real world. |
| Rutgers Experiences |
There are so many different social aspects to experience
at Rutgers. Every day of your four years at Rutgers
holds a new and exciting activity to become involved
with! |
| Internships |
I value the four years I have worked with undergraduate
admissions as a Scarlet Ambassador. It has been such
an honor to be one of the select students to represent
the entire Rutgers student population. Everything
that I have learned about Rutgers during my time as
a Scarlet Ambassador has made me cherish and love
this school even more than I originally did. Being
able to inform incoming/prospective students about
everything Rutgers has to offer makes me feel like
I am helping to increase the positive reputation Rutgers
has when it is passed from person to person. My student
teaching in a middle school classroom really helped
me grow as a person and a teacher. I gained so much
from my four months there. I was never able to see
how much of a positive impact I could have on students
until I saw results from the students I was teaching.
Being able to make a positive change or impact on
students lives is such a special priviledge that means
so much more than how much money or material objects
you have in life. |
| Rutgers Traditions |
I love the Douglass College Sacred Path Ceremony
that is held each year. It is a formal moving up of
the classes where you walk down the sacred path, toss
a pine cone (Douglass College symbol) in a bonfire
and make a wish for the upcoming year. It really gave
me pride in my college, hope for a successful upcoming
year, and some warm reminders of the year that had
passed. I also love Passion Puddle; it is such a beautiful,
peaceful area of the Cook/Douglass campus. It is amazing
to me that the area has been kept so clean; a sign
to me that the students really do respect traditions
on campus! The myth is that if you walk around the
puddle, counterclockwise, hand-in-hand with your significant
other three times you are bound to be engaged. Cute,
and romantic. And how could I not mention the Rutgers
football and basketball games! Not sure if these are
a tradition, but the school pride that is brought
to each one of the games year after year is something
for us Rutgers students to take pride in and cherish!
We are so proud of our school and we show it at these
games! Go RU!!! |

| Why Rutgers? |
Rutgers was not my first choice of colleges when
I was applying because I grew up in Piscataway, NJ
and did not want to be in "my backyard."
However, after being here and experiencing all of
the amazing opportunities and activities Rutgers has
to offer, if I could go back to when I was ranking
my college choices, Rutgers would be my number one
school. Not only is it affordable, it has an abundance
of school spirit/pride that makes all Rutgers students
feel so proud to say they go/went to this school.
It also has unbelievable academic opportunities. When
you begin your job hunt, just knowing that employers
will hold the name Rutgers in such high esteem makes
you feel comfortable and confident with the skills
you have to offer any company or job. |
