Rutgers
Reflects the World |
I'm from a predominantly white middle-class suburb
and have enjoyed the diverse groups of people and
activities available to me at Rutgers. Diversity
isn't just a good thing for people FROM diverse backgrounds...but
also wonderful for people who come from non-diverse
backgrounds to experience. |
| Rutgers Experiences |
I graduated from University College in May of 2005
and loved my Rutgers experience enough to stay for
another three years while working on my master's degree!
What isn't there to love about this place??? In my
opinion, Rutgers University offers its students one
of the most diverse campus experiences in the country.
I can enjoy the Rutgers history and urban feel of
College Avenue as well as Passion Puddle, Rutgers
Gardens on Cook/Douglass, great basketball games,
the 350-acre Ecological Preserve on Livingston, and
my favorite spot...the Rutgers Football Stadium on
Busch. All of these spots are just a five-minute bus
ride away from my residence hall on College Avenue!
In addition, New Brunswick is just a short train ride
away from both New York City and Philadelphia. Great
for a Broadway musical fan like myself! |
| Internships |
Rutgers
University Office of Planning and Development
researching historic preservation projects on campus;
New
Jersey Museum of Agriculture (making visual aids
for senior citizen groups) |
| Rutgers Traditions |
I volunteer at two of Rutgers' finest traditions:
The New Jersey Folk Festival, an annual event showcasing
folk music and crafts from around the country; and
Cook College Ag Field Day, an annual event showcasing
the agricultural roots of Cook College. In addition,
I have not missed a single Rutgers home football or
women's basketball game in the last three years, and
I can sing the entire Rutgers Alma Mater! |

| Why Rutgers? |
Well, my love of Rutgers bloomed late. I actually
started out at Penn State University and later transferred
to Rutgers. I didn't realize all the things that Rutgers
had to offer when I was in high school and unfortunately
NEVER bothered to visit. BIG MISTAKE! Fortunately
for me, Rutgers loves transfer students too....so,
I made the switch in the spring of 2003...and I've
bled SCARLET ever since! |
