Rutgers Reflects the World We have everything from the Rutgers Hillel to the Hindu Student Council, and everything from the Turkish Students Association to the Haitian Association at Rutgers University. As a Rutgers student, you become friends with all kinds of people and are exposed to new experiences everyday, whether it's Islam Awareness Week or a Taiwanese Night Market set up on College Ave one day, you are always learning! But Rutgers students don't just reflect the world, we care about it too!
Rutgers Experiences Seeing the 14th Dalai Lama speak, going to see Paul Rusesabagina speak (the man whose true story is told in the film, Hotel Rwanda), meeting the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine (she gave me some great advice on breaking into the biz!) On a more day to day basis, writing for the Daily Targum is not only fun but a great learning experience. It's awesome to be a first-hand witness and participatet in the work that it takes for an issue to be published everyday.
Volunteer Experiences Rutgers Readers, Raritan River Clean-Up
Clubs and Extracurricular Activities Scarlet Ambassador, The Daily Targum, Rutgers World Affairs Review, Association of Women in Communications, Rutgers College New Student Orientation
Rutgers Traditions The Old Queens gate, the RU fight song.
Why Rutgers My sister and two of my cousins went to Rutgers and were not only happy here but are all successful in what they do now. Even though I was apprehensive before I got here, I can't imagine being anywhere else now. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but the options I had opened me up to a field I would have never considered otherwise, while at the same time allowing me to continue pursuing a major in Journalism, something I have always loved. As a Rutgers student, I have access to an art museum, an astronomy tower, botanical gardens, state of the art labs, a bowling alley, a farm, theaters, an ecological preserve, a golf course and much more without even leaving campus! Also, I am a huge dork and I love the history behind the University. I think it's so cool that we are one of only nine colleges nationwide that pre-date the founding of the country.
