Enjoying Thanksgiving Break Already

by Jennifer R. 26. November 2009 09:11

Not long after my last class, Biology, ended on Tuesday, did I start enjoying my Thanksgiving Break. First I went to the gym, and then I headed over to the Cafeteria. During free period, 12:20-1:20 when most people do not have class, I was supposed to work an NJPIRG call in to U.S. Senators regarding health care. Alas, my partner got called into work, so I had more time to hang out with my friends in the Cafeteria. My last friend standing had class at three, so I headed to the Honors Lounge.

During my tour of the second floor of the library, which is dominated by Honors facilities like the study area and lounge, I was told by my guide that I should spend as much time in the Honor's Lounge as possible. My first time in the lounge, I was there to study, which was a mistake. The Honors Lounge is for casual studying, but it gets pretty loud. I stayed away from the lounge for a while, but now I hang out there when I don't need to study. As everyone departed from the lounge, I got some work done and readied myself for the night to come.

First, at 7:00 PM, my friend Brett hosted a Racquetball tournament in the gym. We have great racquetball courts, a squash court, an aerobics room, a natorium, and more facilities I probably haven't found yet. Props to Brett for hosting an event on campus. During a time when a lot of students were leaving, it was nice to have something to do.

Here's the grand prize: a Mark Ecko Rutgers sweater valued at $98. The other prizes were rackets.

Here's a candid shot of me!

I had to leave Racquetball early to hang out with friends, which was a good time. I met a lot of new people. Bloomin' Onion, the notoriously high calorie appetizer from Outback Steakhouse, was served, and then we went to a diner. I had excellent Navy Bean soup, but the waitress never brought over my salad dressing. Can you tell I like good food?

Anyway, in 50 minutes or so I'm heading home for Thanksgiving. It's nice to live so close to my house so I don't have to deal with airplanes and the like. Then I may do Black Friday shopping, and on Saturday I'm hoping to get a much needed haircut and see New Moon with a friend. Sunday will be homework day.

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving! I'm thankful for everyone who reads and writes the blog and the administrators who run it!
