Flash Mob

by System Administrator 7. December 2009 17:39

For those of you who didn't notice, but it's basically Christmas.  This not only means presents and no school, but it means the annual lighting of the christmas tree in New Brunswick!  This lighting occurs every year; however, this year was special due to the commissioning of Mason Gross dance department teacher Randy James to choreograph a "flash mob" during the festivities of the lighting.  A "flash mob" for those who are clueless (I myself actually had no idea of the term even when I signed on to participate) is when dancers are mixed in with a crowd of onlookers and then begin dancing, one at a time and then multiplying to two, four, eight, etc.  The location of this whole spectacle was in front of the Crossroads theater, which is conveniently located across from an EE bus stop in case you ever want to check it out.

For this event there were two scheduled rehearsals, each two hours.  In those short hours all flash mobbers learned a 4 minute dance...which if you didn't know is ridiculous.  However, it all wound up working somehow.  Here is the finished product of our mob :)

Happy Holidays!
