Hey readers and fellow bloggers! Welcome to my first blog post of the second semester. I am currently jazzed out of my mind (One bottle of water, a can of AMP Energy Drink, a bottle of ROCKSTAR Energy Shot with 200mg of pure caffeine, and lots of intense dancing!). But before I get to WHY I almost killed myself, let's talk about this week.
So on Sunday night, I came back here...in the darkness and rain! Yay! My friend Darshan helped me lug my sh** up to my room (since I made the mistake of taking everything home), and then I went to Tillett with some people in my building. Surprise surprise, apparently Tillett food at the end of the semester is just whatever wasn't thrown away at the beginning of this semester...this probably isn't true, of course, but a whole lot of people on Livingston now believe that. I have to say that I am suspicious because the food on Sunday was actually decent, where as later into the semester the food usually isn't "good" or "bad" and can only be classified as "edible". Hmm.
Monday was a pretty chill day. I didn't pretty much nothing important except catch up with my friends. Shout outs to Phyllis for chilling with me at Nielson! <3
TUESDAY. Back to work; ew. At 12 I had my first Bio 102 class. Since I took all the notes for exam 1 over break, so far I'm not too stressed out. But it's definitely not going to get any easier! This exam is already incorporating information from the Nervous System, which was NOT my favorite part about Anatomy & Physiology last year. The only thing on that same level of suckiness was the Muscular System. However, we did skip Endocrine, Lymphatic, and Integumentary, so I can't make a complete decision. Oh well. At 5:35, I was back in PreCalc 111. Not too difficult. So far, so good.
Wednesday - best class day ever? In the morning, I had Dance Appreciation. My professor (who prefers to be called "Randy") is freakin' HILARIOUS, and it was totally worth waking up at 7 in the morning to go listen to him. After that, I had breakfast at Nielson (News Flash: Breakfast at Nielson SUCKS!), and ended up registering for Intro To Music...20 minutes before class started. I had to say that even though I definitely don't need an INTRO to music class (10 years of piano; 9 years of trumpet), I think I will be interested in this class once it really gets rolling. So yeah, two easy A's and no Bio Lab that night. Win sauce. Oh, and that night my mom was on CNN!!! She's been in Haiti since Saturday volunteering as a Registered Nurse. Great woman, she is. She was born in Haiti, and actually is from Port-Au-Prince (the capital, and the city that took the most damage in last week's earthquake from Hell) That night, I sessioned with my friends in Verse|One, RDT, and Team Technique. It was a whole lot of fun and I learned some new moves!
Thursday...as in yesterday. Alright, so I didn't have class until 2:30 since Byrne Seminars don't start until next week. I made the decision to re-register into the ODASIS program that morning...and totally regretted it! Because I got a C in Bio last semester, those freakin' PSYCHOS took my IPOD TOUCH AND MY HEADPHONES away, which I'm sure isn't even LEGAL, and then gave me the following ultimatums: 1) I'll get my stuff back when I can get an A in science AND math, 2) I have to do EIGHT HOURS of studying at Beck Hall PER WEEK, 3) If I miss ONE ODASIS class, or if I'm ever late to one or miss a homework assignment, I'm out of ODASIS, oh and get this - 4) I will NOT be recieving credit for ODASIS this semester. WTF?! This is how I feel about ODASIS: It is a great resource. They have old exams, old notes, and people that are really smart to help you out in science or math classes. Also, they keep tabs on you, which shows that they care to some degree. But listen - IT IS TOTALLY POSSIBLE TO GET AN "A" IN A SCIENCE OR MATH CLASS WITHOUT ODASIS. Plenty of people I know did it. My iPod is NOT the reason I didn't do so well last semester, BECAUSE I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE IT UNTIL WINTER BREAK STARTED. I am COMPLETELY AGAINST doing all of this extra work and walking on ice this thin for NOT EVEN ONE CREDIT, WHICH I THINK ISN'T EVEN ENOUGH FOR ALL THE WORK YOU HAVE TO DO FOR ODASIS ANYWAY. Oh, and a lot of phrases that start with the letter "F". And possibly some yo momma jokes.
*Whew*
So I'm giving this regime one week. If it's too much, I'm seriously considering dropping ODASIS next Friday. I mean, it's not like IT'S GONNA BE ON MY TRANSCRIPT BECAUSE I'M NOT RECIEVING ANY CREDIT, RIGHT?! So I wouldn't get a "W". Like my FAVORITE person there said today, it would be like "I was never involved" (insert more phrases that start with the letter "F" and Yo Momma jokes here). I will stay in ODASIS on the grounds that someone can give me some ironclad reason as to why I should stay, or I "find myself" this week or something like that and realize that I'll totally get straight A's now. Or if I look at girl in ODASIS, and she looks at me, and we instantly realized that we were made for each other. Hahaha.
...I miss my iPod. :-( Oh, and my SkullCandy headphones. :'(
......ANYWAY, after PreCalc Recitation at 2:30 (in which I had a pretty chill TA), I actually ran into my friend Mishell and ended up going with her to her Dance Appreciation class - and it was worth it! I just love hearing Randy talk. :-) The only downside was that I had to write an in-class essay (which I put "Some Guy Who Isn't In This Section But Loves Randy" as my name), but after that all we did was The Wave for the rest of class. Awesome. But after that, I had to go to PreCalc lecture, and I basically slept through the whole class. Well, except when I had this daydream that someone gave me a shell. I didn't know what it was, and then a snail started coming out! So I freaked out and threw it away in reflex. However, I woke up and actually threw my pencil (which was a snail ten seconds before). My excuse to Professor Zaderman? - "Sorry. I had a spaz attack." LOL. I'm going to probably rest next time instead of going to a Dance Appreciation class I'm not in.
Alright so now, the highlight of my year - OMG OMG OMG! RDT AUDITIONS! I told you guys that I would go for it. I was the first one there (and got my number sticker, just like American Idol - #1!) so I killed time by playing the Yorba Lounge (Tillett) piano (which sucks) and dancing alone. I think the party started at 10. Michael Esteban (who was on America's Best Dance Crew with FR3SH) taught us choreography he made to "Take Your Hand" by Usher. Here's the audition run for Group 3 (featuring my friend Diane <3 and my buddy Dave who is on RDT!)
Sweet, right? Personally, I thought the choreo was really tough! But I found some comfort in Mike telling us that it's okay if we didn't get the choreo completely right as long as we showed a good amount of musicality (hitting beats correctly). At the end, we had an open freestyle. There were some MONSTERS dancers there, and even the people who didn't master Mike's choreo (like myself) completely RIPPED the dance floor. That is, until security came in and kicked us out at around 1AM. Check out this video of some of the dancers! (featuring my friends Morrison, Anthony, Steve, and Malcolm!)
Everyone did a great job, and we will know who's in RDT later today! <3 I'm keeping my fingers crossed that whatever I took from the choreo and my freestyles took me into a new dance crew. Also, even though he isn't in the above video, I'm gonna have to give the Grand Prize Freestyle trophy to my man Ricardo - who is also skilled in the dance styles Vogueing and Waacking along with Hip-Hop - he was absolutely SICK NASTY!
Hoping for a good day today! I have Biology at 12, and Intro to Music at 3:15. After that, I am doing dance workshops all night and all evening tomorrow, and the money we're paying to learn is going to Haiti. Please continue to pray for that country! Much love to everyone! LET'S DO IT!!!
