Hey readers and bloggers. Today's blog is brought to you by the past week, which kicked ass.
So let's see, last Friday I went home and the weekend was pretty uneventful. On Monday, I made it to Dance Appreciation on time to recieve tickets for the performances we're going to have to see and to write two essays. The first required us to define Krumping, which is a type of aggressive street dance. You wouldn't believe some of the answers people around me put for this! -__- I was crying with laughter when one girl in front of me wrote that it's kind of like the Wu-Tang dance. AS IF. For the second essay, we had to write about an important event in our life that had to do with dance. I wrote about my decision to start getting serious about dancing.
After my little "dance" with nostalgia, Randy put on the movie "Rize" for us, which is a documentary about krumping. I have to say that there was a lot that I didn't know!
But I was able to follow what was going on, seeing as I know how to krump. I hate when people ask me to teach them, though. The style is almost completely freestyle moves. You can't really "learn" it from somebody!
On Tuesday morning, I freaked the f*** out because I woke up at 9 and thought I was missing my Dance Appreciation quiz...which was the next day lol. That afternoon, I had my first ODASIS Bio Discussion Group. Our leader is this guy John, and he's pretty cool. I still really miss my last discussion leader, Yayoi. She was sooo amazing.
After the Dance Appreciation quiz on Wednesday...which probably 99% of the class cheated on...I had Intro To Music. So far, I'm still not really intrigued with class yet. Hopefully it gets better as time goes on. After class, I hung out with one of my friends in Bunting-Cobb on Douglass and had the "pleasure" of doing laundry with her. "Pleasure", meaning going down the stairs, finding out eSuds doesn't work, going back upstairs for quarters, going back downstairs to start the washers, going back up to her room, going back down and handling wet female undergarments, having a shouting match with a girl using up all four dryers, eSuds not working again, going back up for quarters, and back down to start the dryer, and back up to get our stuff. SO MUCH FUN, SRSLY D00D. T_T
Later in the afternoon, I had the opportunity to enjoy coffee at Starbucks with Phyllis, Will, Lee, and John! (well, actually I got there right when John was leaving haha) We had fun griping about our academic and personal lives. I'm sure that everyone benefited from blowing off a little steam. When it was time to go, Will and I went to Brower to grab some takeout before class - iced tea for me, Italian food for him.
"Okay, I'm going to go on the designated crosswalk...you cars need to yield to me" - Will Tomaskovic (best quote ever?)
Will: "I saw a girl get hit by a car on College Ave the other day."
Me: "Like, legit?"
Will: "Yeah! She was on the windshield."
Me: "That's AWESOME!"
Yes, the life and times of Rutgers Student Bloggers. Definitely consider applying, high school seniors.
So anyway, after Bio Lab (which consisted of looking at dead / live animals and getting out early AGAIN - I love 102) I headed over to SERC to session with people from RDT, SERCisCompany, Team Technique, and Verse|One. I actually auditioned for Technique the night before, and I'm waiting on their decision! No pressure, no pressure.
Unfortunately for me, one of my friends decided it was too hot and left the windows open all night at SERC, leading to me falling ill and missing every class on Thursday. While I got one of my friends to talk to our Byrne Seminar Professor and my PreCalc teacher seemed cool about it, my ODASIS math tutor wasn't happy. What gives? If it's sooo important that I be in Beck every damn day, I'll just go ahead and infect all of you. Jeez.
So, after about a week of waiting, the housing lottery numbers were released! The lower your number, the better chance you have of living where you want next year. Facebook was subsequently loaded with statuses that were simply numbers, from my friend Jemila who got lucky number 99 and can be almost wherever she wants, to poor Derek who landed on 10,159 and will end up in the sewers with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I myself got 2013 - boy, the irony is DELICOUS! Graduation year as my lotto number; what are the odds? Fortunately, a lot of the RAs reassured me that my number is pretty low, so I'm not too worries about how my housing situation will be.
And then came glorious Friday...with warnings of two or more feet of snow. Great. After attempting to clean my room (and failing horribly), I went back down to the Teen HUB Center in (way) downtown New Brunswick for Haiti Relief Effort Workshops 2! The first class was by...OMG...Adrian Causing! He's the director / founder of FR3SH Dance Company. He's been on America's Best Dance Crew, So You Think You Can Dance, and also graduated from Rutgers in 2008. Here's a video of what he taught us:
DOPE. I had to go home though, so I had to miss the rest of the workshops. Hopefully someone puts them on YouTube or Facebook later. Not MySpace, though. I deleted mine.
So it's Saturday, almost 3 in the morning. I look outside and it didn't snow at all (compared to what Tinton Falls is used to). I look at FrostWire and all my illegal music downloads are complete. I look to the sky and hope for a better week next week. :-) Later, everyone!
