The title of this post refers to Fat Tuesday, otherwise known as "Mardi Gras." During the celebration people traditionally eat fatty foods before the ritual fasting of Lenten Season, which starts on Ash Wednesday. For most Rutgers Camden students and staff, Fat Tuesday meant free food, beads and celebration! These pictures are taken before the event officially started, so there aren't too many people hanging around yet.

I however, had to taste some food (fish, chicken, gumbo, oh my!) and run to a panel with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, David E. Martin, of the School of Podiatric Medicine at Temple. The Career Center is already back in action, and as usual, they had pizza! Mr. Martin spoke to us about the ins and outs of Podiatry school and the profession. One of the advantages of the Rutgers Camden location is that you are near Pennsylvania's Medical schools, as well as New Jersey's. It was an insightful talk, and a career in Podiatry could be in the cards for me. I'm not committing to anything at this point.
After Fat Tuesday, and an Abnormal Psychology Exam, came the rest of a FAT WEEK. With Wednesday came the NJPIRG Health Reform Committee meeting and a Psychology independent research meeting. With Thursday came a Biology quiz, a Fiction test, and a meeting to move my Neurology research to Wednesdays. On Friday, I started my mountain of homework.
Also, next Wednesday Q-STEP starts. I am so elated.
Now, where did Monday go?
...
Here it is! Monday meant our first day of fetal pig dissection. If you do not want to read about the details, I suggest you stop reading this post now.
Anyway, we had an odd number of people in my lab, so I elatedly decided to work on my very own pig. I named her Pickle. On Monday, we skinned our pigs and identified muscular structures. This coming Monday we will have a test on these structures, that I am about to go study for. Our awesome TA, Matt, will put flags in some of the structures and we must tell him what they are.
I must say, I love having a 1:12, or something like that, student to Teacher's Assistant ratio in laboratory. I never have to worry about spending an hour performing an exercise wrong, or leaving without understanding a concept.
I hope you all are having great weekends! I am off to study pig anatomy!
