Hey readers and bloggers! On my way to Intro To Music this morning, I had the pleasure of running into our favorite Asian blog queen, Phyllis. Taking "The David Route" for once, she was cutting Chem lecture. I'm so proud of her! <3
Anyway, we chatted for a couple of minutes and she ended up telling me that she's planning on pledging to Phi Delta Chi. So right now I'm doing some creeping in class and I found out that PDC is a professional co-ed Pharmacy frat. It was founded on November 2nd, 1883, by 11 students of the University of Michigan. Since then, it has developed a long, fruitful history, full of prosperous people and an assload of awards. The Beta Nu chapter here at RU was established in 1992.
I personally don't know what I want to do about pledging to frats or a co-ed frat (for example, Phi Delta Epsilon, a pre-med fraternity). I mean, growing up, the only exposure I've had of this segment of college life was through Hollywood - aka guys in frats pretty much get laid all the time, and doing something like downing seven shots of Everclear in 20 minutes to get in. That kind of turns me off a bit. -__- But I've been thinking about it, and if I WERE to pledge to a frat, it would be one where I would feel a strong sense of BROTHERhood (sorry, co-ed fraternities!) and definitely gain some lifetime friends. So I've been fishing around The Divine Nine - the nine historically Black Greek letter organizations of America. Most of them were founded at Howard University. The three that I'm looking at are Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, and Phi Beta Sigma. My cousin Izzy, who graduated from Seton Hall last year (Bio Major) is a member of PBS. He freaked out when I asked him about the frats on his Facebook wall and messaged me saying not to EVER do that again because information about pledging is pretty much "classified information". He said while frats in the Divine Nine all have a rich history and strong foundation, make sure to do intense research because membership to those organizations are NO JOKE - it's a lifetime commitment. When I have some time, I'll definitely get on that and call him with more questions. So until then, I'll keep an eye on my three favorites through Facebook groups and we'll see what happens! If anyone reading just HAPPENS to be in one of those organizations, feel free to hit me up.
As for right now...the only "fraternity" I need (although it's co-ed) is VERSE|ONE! Check out some pictures and a video we did last night, courtesy of (once again) Rob Yu.

^ We decided to end practice early for a bubble tea fix at I's Cafe! ^

See you later, everyone! BIO STUDENTS, make sure you work hard on the Lab Report! <3
PS - FINALLY tried Capoeira last week. It's a dope fusion of martial arts and dance, but I don't think it's for me. Oh, well. At least I had a good experience! (besides getting kicked in the arm, I mean...)
