RU Camden Experience

by Jennifer R. 26. March 2010 18:38

Coming back to school from break was a rude awakening, but I think now, Friday, I finally readjusted back to school life. This post is entitled "RU Camden Experience" because in just this week alone I tackled a hectic lot of tasks that are not typical of the college freshman life. I often take for granted that if you possess the courage tenacity, and the work ethic, you can do amazing things at Rutgers Camden within your first year. The small campus definitely helps.

I waited until today to post because I spent all week helping to prepare for a animal Neurology experiment. I crafted electrons, carefully cleaned the algae out of the experiment tank while wearing a dress, and studied tediously. Unfortunately, my advisor had to push the experiment to next week, when I will also orchestrate psychology research. At least I got to dissect a brain on Monday.

This week, I also held a Health Reform Panel. Two health reform experts, along with our Health Reform committee spoke, and then we opened the session up for debate. In my opinion, even with this bill in congress, health reform has a long way to go. This was my first time meeting the College Republicans, and they seem like an active, intelligent organization. They debate the Democrat club on occasion. Here are some pictures I took of the event before I started to host it, and before the room was filled.

Other than that, I've been plugging away as usual. I had two papers and an exam this week, and I felt impressed by the amount of presentations and events for women's history month. As Vice President of the Gay Straight Alliance, I need to start helping to promote the Drag Show and to plan the new budget with Mr. President. Overall, I am really exhausted. But, I am going to a comic convention tomorrow! I just figured out that the Riverline, a light rail train, is located just outside of the dorms, so I'm definitely going to take advantage of it and have some new adventures!

Life's busy here, but rewarding!

Happy weekend!
