Blog post numba one.

Hello everyone! Parents, high school students, fellow freshmen and anyone (hopefully) reading these blog posts! The pressure is on! I’m Nagma, part of your second generation of Rutgers bloggers. Honestly, these past days of orientation have passed by so quickly, I’ve just realized that classes will begin tomorrow!! AHHH! Am I Excited? YES! Extremely. Nervous? Yes. Hell yes.

Moving in was extra fun though, we got lost on our way to Douglass (blame it on the GPS!). Oh and did I mention that I was part of Douglass Residential College? The best place to be with endless (and I MEAN endless) opportunities! Anyway, back to what I was saying.

Katzenbach on Douglass is a great place to live, albeit without the convenience of a mini computer lab and library that my Bunting – Cobb friends have, it’s amazing. I love it already. There’s trees everywhere you see, the passion puddle is nearby *giggle*, Douglass Campus centre, the bookstore. Its just SO convenient.

Speaking about convenient, the bus system looked mad complicated! Being an Engineering student (I only know one other Engineer in Freshman year at Douglass), I have all my classes on Busch. But, that seemed to work out pretty well, although NextBus.com was next to NO help at all! The bus drivers on the other hand, rock! If you have no idea where you’re going, well obviously your bus driver does. They’re extremely nice btw, so don’t hesitate to ask. In fact, don’t hesitate to ask anyone around you. Everyone at Rutgers has been really friendly so far, and that’s one more thing on my “list of awesome things at Rutgers”.

So, basically Douglass is all girls and that was making me nervous as hell. I’ve never been in an all girls environment, it was weird at first. But, as you get to know people, you realize how supportive the whole Douglass community is. The PALs and the RAs are always looking out for you. A shoutout to all the PALs and RAs at Katzenbach! Thanks! You ROCK!

Also, the Douglass dining hall is amazing, probably the best food on campus. YUM. And the healthiest, college ave I must say … is not. But if you want the whole dining experience, try out some greasy fries and fat burgers there! I still haven’t got my hands on a fat burger, but they just look GIGANTIC. I don’t think I would be able to take more than one bite :D

BASICALLY…If you want a great meal go to Busch or Douglass, clean, yummy food.

The past few days have been filled with non-stop, JAM-PACKED activities that sometimes I just lose track of everything around me. But, trust me…its been AWESOME! From the Douglass convocation which was in the beautiful Voorhees Chapel, to the fun-filled BBQ, Karaoke Night in Katz, Rutgers convocation, the kinda-lame-but-still-great-cause-we-got-free-stuff: Scarlet Carnivale, the Throwdown, the Involvement Fair and finally! Target Night!

I’m loving it here. Hello to all my new friends and to the many more that I hope to make! Welcome to Rutgers!

Good luck to all the freshmen tomorrow! Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of our lives!

Whoo! Ciao for now!

PS: Don't mind my video-taping skills. I'm working on it as we speak.

Hi Nagma!

Agreed--Douglass is the best place to be and Neilson owns. Laughing
