"No one else can feel it for you, only you can let it in No one else, no one else can speak the words on your lips"
6:00 am~ Thursday August 27th
The fact that I was going to be moving in later on that morning kept me up like a little kid on Christmas Eve. Awake and excited for the coming sunrise, I laid there and tried to absorb the fact that in a few hours, I will OFFICIALLY be part of this massive university. It was mind-blowing. The Previous week I found myself saying goodbye to all my friends one by one as they took off for their respective colleges. Now, it’s my turn. As the day went on and the sun rose, I became more and more anxious. "Did I forget anything?" is this too many clothes?" "What about my teddy bear?”?
Eventually we piled my boxes in the car and made the 10 min drive to Katzenbach. The Douglass Move in crew was there mindlessly early. As our car rolled into the lot, we were greeted with warm smiles and helping hands. (I don’t know WHAT the Douglass Orientation committee was taking to give them the seemingly infinite supply of energy, but I want some)
2 hours later, with the help of my family, we turned the bare and brazen walls of Katzenbach into (in my opinion) a pretty homey space. (HGtv would be proud)
Here are some pictures of the before and after.

Later that day after moving in, we headed for the magnificent gem of Douglass campus that is Voorhees Chapel. (Where I met up with Lee to pick up the Flip Cam
)
After all the goodbyes and the countless pictures, we lounged in the sun and met up with all the friends we made at the Douglass orientation during the BBQ on Antilles field.
Douglass-wise we were busy from the time we moved in to the time the UPPERclassmen moved in.
After all the Douglass programs, we boarded the bus to convocation in Busch Stadium. That place is simply MASSIVE. I’m SO EXCITED for the game tomorrow!!
The convocation was a lot of fun but to be perfectly honest, my favorite part was the acapella singing groups (probably because I wish I could sing. currently I’m making guest appearances in the Katzenbach shower 7 times a week)
After convocation, we had the carnival/BBQ. It was fun and I got ALOT of free food and not to mention a free Rutgers Football t-shirt. My only qualm is the fact that we had to SWIPE to get food. Yeah, I know that I have close to 300 swipes, but still...
All in all, Move in weekend was jam-packed with events and I’m looking forward to a little freedom and less structure.
It is DEFINETLY apparent that my time at Rutgers is my own. My life is Unwritten. It’s up to me from this point onward to write my story, because it is indeed MY story to tell.
