I’m back again, and it feels like something has changed within me. A week ago I felt hyper, excited, ecstatic to the point of insanity, but now its different. Its not about how the walls are closing in on me, its about how they’ve opened up so wide that everywhere I look I have choices, opportunities. Its just overwhelming to say the least. Ah, what an eventful week! And its just gonna get more and more intense, I can feel it. In my bones. Oh yes. So many classes, so many credits, so much work and so much epic FUN.
It was great going back last weekend and meeting my family again, but the weird thing was that I was missing Rutgers just as much! It’s a different feeling, it felt like Rutgers was my new home and the real home was like vacation: No matter how great it is, you always want to go right back home eventually. Haha, my parents probably won't agree with that.
So, I’m glad to be back on campus. The professors are mostly nice, but some have extremely thick accents that while trying to decipher, you end up losing track of the density of the material. The classes are all intense, and I think a month from now I’m gonna want to take all my books and burn them in a dumpster somewhere. Hopefully not.
This week was awesome though! Even after all the gruesome classes, and going for an organization’s meeting at the wrong time, I went to join a Bhangra team/club called “Dhamak Punjabi Di”. It was amazing! We were learning how to do Bhangra (I mostly just know party moves learnt from Indian weddings lol), which is a folk dance that originated from Punjab in India. It’s extremely lively, extremely tiring (I’m still sore!), but extreme FUN!
I even tried out for the Voorhees choir, and I think I was selected but it really conflicted with Bhangra L. So peeps, I’m not giving up on that dream yet, I’ll give it another shot next year! I’ve always believed in the saying, “Our glory is not in never rising, but in rising everytime we fall” – Confucius. It’s something that has motivated me throughout high school and now university.
This weekend I’m staying back at Rutgers, and gosh oh gosh am I missing my mother’s delicious food!
That’s all for now,
CIAO! <3
PS: Have a look at some of the cool throwdown pictures from Douglass orientation, and some pictures with my dorm friends! :)
