In which I rant about buses and my "soothing voice"

by Paige W. 27. September 2010 13:32

Can I complain about something for a second? I try not to do that too often, but right now, I HAVE TO.

SERIOUSLY, RUTGERS. It is NOT OKAY that I have to wait AN HOUR for a bus and therefore ALMOST MISS MY DINNER RESERVATION WITH MY PARENTS WHO I HAVEN'T SEEN IN A MONTH.  THAT IS NOT OKAY.

Look, I understand it was Football Game Day, and it was a Saturday.  I'm not asking for buses to run every 2 seconds like they do on the weekdays (although that would be lovely, HINT HINT).  But it's really ridiculous that a bus dropped off about five million students right in front of me and then was like, "LOL JK OUT OF SERVICE."

Anyway.  Sorry.  On to happier things!

Dinner with my parents was nice. I got to eat some real food (gnocchi, anyone?  Why yes!  I think I will!) and they got to meet my boyfriend (YES I KNOW, SOMEONE WOULD ACTUALLY DATE ME.)  It's a fair trade, I think.  Also, I got some Fiber Bars and quarters for laundry.  Love you Mom!

I have a job interview today, for the Douglass Phonathon.  Basically, I have to call alumnae and ask for money, which, as a girl who's spent a lot of time on the phone doing just that with her parents, I think will be an easy task.  Seriously, though, I campaigned on the phone for lots of political candidates before.  I HAVE EXPERIENCE.  PLEASE HIRE ME.

I really really want a job because I know that the busier I am, the more efficient I am with my time.  So, this is the first step in my quest to be the perfect Rutgers student.  If this doesn't work out, I shall have to explore other avenues, because I really want a job.

Also, I've been told I have a soothing voice.  PERFECT FOR PHONE CALLS, DOUGLASS PHONATHON COMMITTEE.  PERFECT.

snicker.  Paige, tell them they have to hire you, because I won't mind so much the calls (DC '88 here) when I'm reading to my toddlers if it's you Wink  Do report back.

and I so hear you about buses on *any* football day.
