Obligatory WebReg Post with a dash of sex lecture for good measure.

WEBREG.  The bane of every freshman's (and sophomore's and junior's and senior's) existence.  I registered for classes Tuesday night, and it was...

Uh.  Well.  It was completely painless.

Now, granted, most of my friends did not come in here with AP credits, and so had to register Wednesday night with most of the other freshman at this school, WHICH, I assume, jammed up the system considerably.  But...I don't know.  Even when I was planning my schedule, I didn't have a problem.  Nearly all the classes I wanted were open, I get a day off, and I'm done before 5 pm all days but one.  It took me literally one minute to register.  So...yeah.  Sorry for the lack of an entertaining anti-WebReg rant.

Onto the good stuff, then?

I went to a sex lecture last night amusingly entitled "The J-Spot".  It was hosted by a guy named Jay Friedman (hence the name, LOLOLOLOL).  I liked it, mostly.  Talking about sex is always fun in that uncomfortable, we're-all-reduced-to-gigling-fourth-graders way.  I was impressed by his discussion of the Victorian culture of America, a place where dictionaries are pulled off the shelves because they contain "dirty" words.  And when he showed us a sex-ed video used in Scandinavian middle schools, I have to admit that my jaw hit the floor.  It would be considered pornographic here just because it was so honest and direct about sexual issues teenagers grapple with.  It made a little sad, actually, to realize that today's young'ins aren't getting honest and helpful sex education.  THIS IS WHY WE HAVE SHOWS LIKE TEEN MOM, PEOPLE.  And as much as they are a guilty pleasure for millions of Americans, it's sad that there are enough teen parents that shows like this can exist in the first place.

But I digress. The lecture was silly and funny, especially when he asked audience members to name a food and then explain how it related to sex.  ("Ramen: Even if you're broke you can still have a good time!") My one criticism?

Too many politics, not enough sex tips.

(What?  It's true!  And it rhymes!)

I actually appreciated the political aspects he presented...but then again, I was the one who gave him that correlating part of the female anatomy.

LOL!  There was a time (80's) students lined up in person and waited for 1+ hour(s) to find out their perfectly scheduled selection of courses wouldn't work.  So glad to hear advances mean it can be done in jammies in less an minute!

one question: politics rhymes with tips? in an off sort of way, perhaps.

Great to hear form you, Paige. . .
