"Welcome back...

Your dreams where your ticket out..."

For some bizarre reason, I have the theme song from "Welcome Back Kotter" in my head.  Oh, bother.

In reality, I'm sitting in my apartment hoping that the snow/rain/icy stuff doesn't make driving to school too treacherous, and that the Hickman bridge isn't iced over.  I have nightmares about trying to get to class, slipping and falling and completely rupturing one of my vertebral discs.  Strange and specific, I know, but I think about these things.  Plus I'm going to be practically living in Hickman this semester, so that bridge is an important part of my semester.

This past few weeks have been a lovely time away, and I'm ready for classes to start back up...I think.  I loaded myself up with 18 credits, so check back in a few weeks and see if I haven't been admitted into a padded room where I can stare at the pretty butterflies all day long.  (Of note, I'd like my straight jacket to be purple, thanks.)

I don't do resolutions.  Never have.  Instead, I set goals.  Maybe is a semantics thing, maybe they're exactly the same, but I've found that the mindset behind the two work in completely opposite ways.

My goals for this semester, school-wise, are simple:

  • raise GPA by .2
  • stay ahead of the syllabus
  • read before lecture

I have plenty more goals for other parts of my life, including getting a job, working out, staying on top of housework, etc..., but as far as school goes, I'm going to keep it simple.

I also should list something about scheduling in those goals...at least if I want to stay married.

See, the way this sememster worked out, I won't be getting home until after 9 pm four nights a week.  That severely limits the amount of time I have to spend with the hubs, and while he's fantastically understanding about it, it's still disappointing and pretty sucky.  We'll make it work, of this I have no doubt, but it will definitely be an intersting adventure for the next few months.
