Heyy all!
As you all know, this year is coming to an end and personally, i feel dazed by it all. I have done so many things here that I would have nerver done else where. As a result of this, Ive been battling to balance school, extracurriculars and blogging. I apologize for my absence, but here is a quick breakdown of everything ive been up too.
TedxRuters:
ok, so you you all know that website www.ted.com ? Well if you dont, feel free to click on the link and find out. It is this amazing website that brings together wonderful minds and brilliant people sharing thir stories of hope and intrigue that will blow you away. (one of my bucket list items is to go to one of their conferences
) Anyhoo, The International Students Organization invited Tedx(x=indepentetly run event) to Rutgers. It was a 2hour long event with 5 speakers spreading their new ideas. It was AMAZING!! The best part was that the majority of speakers were Rutgers Professors. these were professors that I would have never gotton a chance to meet if it were not for this event. I highly reccommending going to this event next year

All of the wonderful speakers!

War Horse on Broadway
After the TedxRutgers, My friends and I had to go see a play for our theater appreciation class. This class is great and allows you to see 9 plays throughout the semester and culminates with a final play in NYC on Broadway. For someone who has only been to new yourk city but once(yeah yeah yeah I know! how is that even possible for a Jersey Girl?!) it was an amazing experience. my roommate Christine, and my friend Sam got on the train to NYC at around 12 for the 2:00 show and made it wihth time to spare. While many of the police officers suggested that we should take a cab or a bus from Penn Station (33rd street) to the theater(66th), we decided to walk. not only did we burn some calories, but we gont to see the best part of the entire city! We walked through Times Square, and laughed at the wacky fashion of the crowd while elbowing through a few tourists. The play itself was SPECTACTULAR!!! I won't give it away for the people who might see the play (or the movie to be reeased in december). The critically acclaimed play, which began in england, had the audience laughing, crying, and gripping their seats in anticipation of the jawdropping, life-like, "horses" on stage. I would love to see this play again and again until the end of time.

Ah Rutgersfest.... thee shall be missed
Ok, so I know that you have probably heard all about how terrible rutgersfest was for the students and the city alike. I know that you have probably watched the news mouth agape at the plummeting reputation of our great school. But I dare you to push that notion aside and read my REAL account of my time at the concert.
so Friday morning, I awoke with anticipation of the day to come. to say that there was an electricity in the air was an understatement. After dropping my lab report off with my T.A, I headed back to the dorm to have some fun with my friends. after about 2 hours of games
and laughs , we headed out to the concert on busch. Unlike Rutger admin announced, there tere NOT extra buses to Busch Campus. This was clearly evident when the bus pulled into the stop packed to the gills. After making it to Busch, we were embraced by a HUUUGEE carnival. There were rides and inflateables and photobooths and finally THE STAGE.
Im not going to lie. the crowd was crazy. Then again it IS a concert. so after working through the 3000 person crowd(ducking a few crowd surfers and squeezing through the gaps, my friends and i made it to the front!!!! I could see EVERYTHING. It was a great was to experience my 1st concert and I would do it all again. The concert crowd is a beast in and of itself. when it moves, you move. You have no choice. (disclaimer: if you have personal space issues, this is NOT the place for you). 3OH!3 was amazing and pitbull was even better. (i will put up some videos later on)
After the Concert let out, (and I washed away the mud from my sneakers) my friends went out to party. Rutgersfest was known for the ultimate party weekend. on this regard, I was throughly disappointed. The sheer amout of people ruined everything. The one party we went to (on douglass) was packed with so many people that there was no room to dance. Mark this in your memory. THE STUDENTS DID NOT RUIN RUTGERSFEST, THE PUBLIC DID. Rutgersfest was NEVER marketed to the public. It was the friend that told a friend that told another that resulted inthe crowd and ultimately the shootings. IT IS NOT RUPA'S FAULT. Rupa was ONLY in charge of the concert (which went off without a hitch).
Phew. Had to get that off of my chest. On that note enjoy some pictures of my first and most likely the last Rutgersfest I will see as an undergraduate of Rutgers University
