In a few short days the bloggers will be gathering together to peruse the entries for the new bloggers-to-be, to evaluate and decide who will carry the torch for the coming year. Before I say, "So long for now," (for you never know when I might pop up, I'm invasive like that,) I'd like to say some things to the future Rutgers students.
To the Non-Tradtional students:
- Just do it (not to rip off Nike or anything.) Try 1 class. What could it hurt?
- Those whippersnapper traditional-age students aren't all that bad.
- Yes, every once in awhile it will feel weird.
- Professors will love you.
- Sometimes you will have professors that are younger than you-it's a little strange, but ok most of the time.
To the Traditional students (from someone with a bit of life experience):
- The freedom you feel will be great, but remember there is no-one but yourself to kick your own butt. It's not easy, but you can do it.
- Proof read your emails (espeically to professors and deans), and use full words. Grammar and spelling counts even in email...this means no 'u' for 'you', 'ne' for 'any', etc. Full words, please...your professors will pay attention (you think I'm kidding? I know a professor who deletes emails that have that kind of language usage.)
- Don't bury yourself in your phone/iPod/whatever device when you are walking to classes. You never know who you might have a chance to meet. Be aware of the world around you.
To everyone:
- The buses are frightening at first, but you'll catch on in no time. And yes, invariably they will make you late for SOMETHING at least ONCE during the semester.
- Get involved. Join at least 1 group.
- At the same time, know you're limit. You're there to learn first at foremost, and grades make a difference when it comes to grad school.
It has been great fun blogging for you for the past year. Like I said, you never know when I may pop up again. But, until then...See you later.
