The view from my window

Saturday was the kind of day that made me happy for a lot of things. First, that I own my house, so I didn't have to walk across campus to get my breakfast.  I was also very grateful that the Silver Linden that was planted by the city long before I was born didn't drop any of its pitifully weak branches through my roof.  I was happy for a warm puppy, gas fired furnaces, and a boyfriend who likes shoveling snow and cleaning his girlfriend's car off.  (This gets you big time bonus points guys....I'm jus sayin' Wink )  The pics below are of my backyard at about 3:30 in the afternoon, and the warm puppy, aka Cleopatra the puppy.  Almost everything has stood back up today.  The viburnum sadly didn't make it, but gardening is all about change, next year there will be a Seven Sons tree in its place, a plant I fell in love with during Plant ID class this semester.  It's amazing how Mother Nature will conspire with me to make room for my whims!

Only two short weeks ago CNN assured me that the Farmer's Almanac was predicting a very wet winter, but above average temperatures that would hold the snowfall to a minimum.  Riigghhtttt.  My advice is to stock up on the hot cocoa mix guys, Land O Lakes is the absolute best I've found (I'm a hot cocoa addict!) and don't forget a generous dollop of whipped cream, because if you're going to voluntarily expand your waistline you might as well do it right!

Puppy!

One of the things that makes me so happy about having my own home (granted, the hubs and I rent, but still) is that we can have pets.  I couldn't imagine not being able to have my kitty cats to snuggle with.

PS...This past weekend made me feel like I was home.  I seldom remember a Halloween in Wisconsin where we didn't get at least flurries.

Smile  There's nothing like a warm and furry pal to snuggle with when the weather is bad.

Hi I'm Abeln Kriegler, a Canadian, originally of Nova Scotia, living life across the pond in London, England with my beardy British beau and a very cranky cat.
