Application Process

We're here to help.

The Office of University Undergraduate Admissions performs a comprehensive review of each application, giving preference to students who submit their application and required credentials by the application due dates. Please see "How We make Decisions" for first-year and transfer applicants.

Please review all of the menu items under Specific Information For International Applicants. See the  steps below for guidance through the application process.

  1. Review the minimum academic entrance requirements for each Rutgers college or school.
  2. Review the required academic documentation to complete the application for admission.
  3. Preview the application and, if you are still in high school, preview the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR), so that you are prepared for what you will need to submit.
  4. Review the application due dates and submit your application.
  5. Check Your Rutgers Status to ensure your application is complete. Contact RUinternational@admissions.rutgers.edu with any questions.
  6. If you are admitted to Rutgers, accept our offer of admission through Your Rutgers Status screen and pay the acceptance fee.
  7. Submit the International Student Financial Statement, accompanying financial documentation, and, if you are already studying in the U.S., an International Student Adviser's Report, to be eligible for your I-20.
  8. Receive your I-20, pay your I-901 SEVIS fee, and set up your visa interview at the American embassy or consulate.
  9. Submit your final official transcripts and any other required documentation by mid-July.
  10. Carefully review all communications from Rutgers University.
