Nothing is more important than your safety. You can be sure Rutgers does everything in its power to protect you. Rutgers has an extensive security system to promote a crime-free campus environment, including our own commissioned police force on duty 24/7/365. Rutgers has a detailed emergency plan in place, including a multilayered emergency-notification system that includes person-to-person contact via email and cell phone. And at Rutgers we look after one another.

New Brunswick
Protecting the Rutgers–New Brunswick community is a force of 58 full-time police officers and more than 130 security officers and community service officers. Community policing is embraced, with officers assigned to specific geographic beats on each of the five residential campuses. Learn more in Safety Matters.

Newark
Thirty-four full-time police officers patrol the Rutgers–Newark campus, supported by security officers and community service officers. On foot, car, bicycle, and Segway, officers can respond rapidly to any area of campus. Rutgers–Newark also provides comprehensive public safety services. Learn more in Safety Matters.

Camden
A full-time force of 18 police officers patrols our 40-acre campus—on foot, on bicycles, and in cars. In addition, 60 security officers assist with patrols and provide security at campus buildings.
