Programs for Counselors Expanded
Join us for one of two programs on the New Brunswick campus this fall. Both will begin with breakfast at 8:00 AM in the new Visitor Center on the Busch Campus in Piscataway. We will conclude each day at approximately 11:00 AM.
  • If you are a new high school counselor, come to Rutgers-New Brunswick for a “class” taught by Undergraduate Admissions staff. Rutgers 101 even includes a field trip! On Tuesday, October 27, learn about the history of Rutgers, take a tour, and explore the admissions and application process. At the end of class, counselors will receive credit for professional development hours. Register now for Rutgers 101.
  • On Tuesday, November 17, we are very pleased to highlight the Rutgers College of Nursing. The day will feature an academic overview of the undergraduate degree program and a tour of the newly opened College of Nursing teaching facility in New Brunswick. Professional development hours are extended for attending counselors. Register now.
  • Please note that enrollment is limited for each program.

The Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR)
  • Beginning this year, your students are required to self report their courses, grades, grade point averages and rank in-class with Rutgers' free-standing online form: the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). When students submit a SRAR, they do not need to provide an interim transcript prior to graduation.
  • The SRAR must include all courses and final grades earned from grades 9 through 11.
  • To complete the SRAR, we recommend students reference a copy of their high school transcript. To preview the SRAR, click here.
  • All enrolling students will be required to request that their high schools submit an official transcript with all courses and final grades.

NJ Smart ID
Effective March 2007, all public, elementary and secondary schools in New Jersey are required to include their students' NJ Smart ID (SID) on all transcripts and other student records. Students attending private or non-NJ schools, will not have a SID. As Rutgers is now required to collect a SID for its applicants, we are asking students to provide this number when completing our application. Our application instructs students to contact their guidance counselor if they do not know their SID. Students who do not have a SID can leave the question blank.
  • Must be composed and submitted as part of the online application in the essay box provided.
  • Only first-year honors and scholarship candidates are required to submit an essay, and it must be submitted with the online application by the priority date of December 1.
  • All students may benefit from submitting the essay, though it is not required of all applicants.
  • Essays submitted separately from the application will not be considered.
