The SmartMoney is on Rutgers

When it comes to a return on your educational investment and the age-old debate about the long-term value of private versus public colleges, a recent article in SmartMoney magazine ("Why the Ivies Aren't Worth It") makes a strong case for the better return on investment that the best public colleges offer. In its national survey of college costs versus salaries earned by graduates of 50 public and private institutions three and 15 years after graduation, Rutgers ranked sixth in the nation and first in the Northeast. We already knew that Rutgers is one of the best values in higher education in the nation, and today's difficult economic environment makes that even more true. More

Create Your Rutgers Info Packet

Is your son or daughter still thinking about what major they want to pursue in college? Many first-year students are undecided about their major and plan to explore their options during the early part of their undergraduate experience. Having more information about potential majors is often helpful, and Rutgers makes it easy for students and parents to obtain a lot of details about the majors being considered. We give students and parents the opportunity to create their own information packets. Not only can you customize your packet to your child's academic interests, you also can include extracurricular activities and pictures that might appeal to him. You can create an unlimited number of information packets at no cost. Create one now by visiting http://infopacket.admissions.rutgers.edu.

Next Steps

Included with your child's letter of admission to Rutgers is a special guide for admitted students that provides information about how to enroll at Rutgers, living on campus, and how to apply for housing, establishing email and computer accounts, paying term bills, required immunizations, and many other matters. You can access the admitted student guide and other important information for admitted students here.

Once a student enrolls at Rutgers by returning their admission acknowledgment form either by mail or online, they can access the Enrollment Pathway, a step-by-step online guide for arranging for placement testing, academic planning and advising, applying for on-campus housing, establishing computer and email accounts, indicating student life interests, and much more.

At the academic planning and advising and orientation programs, students meet their academic adviser and select their first-semester courses. They will also find out about the many student services available to them, as well as student clubs and organizations and other student life opportunities.
