2012 Application Now Available Online

Our online application for spring and fall 2012 is now available. Please note that an essay is required of all first-year applicants, and that students can submit their essays only when submitting an application (not after they apply). Essays are an important factor in admissions decisions, and will also be used for academic scholarship and honors program consideration.
Our Early Action Application Due Date is November 1, and our Regular Action Application Due Date is December 1 for fall first-year applicants. Students who submit their required credentials within two weeks of the application due date will receive full consideration for admission and scholarships, and are guaranteed an online decision by our decision date. All decisions are conveyed online through the applicant's Your Rutgers Status screen.

Our fall 2012 early action date does not restrict students from applying to other schools, and our early action decisions are not binding.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING NOW

Many colleges (including Rutgers) have fall 2012 application deadlines in November and December, so your high school senior needs to:
  • Finalize the list of schools to which he/she plans to apply
  • Compile a list of requirements for each of those schools
  • Request that his/her SAT and/or ACT scores be sent to all the schools to which he/she is applying
  • Arrange to visit schools, preferably during the fall semester
If your child is currently a high school sophomore or junior, now would be a good time to:
  • Visit college campuses and websites
  • Review your child's transcript and emphasize the importance of maintaining strong grades in every year of high school
  • Contact your child's guidance counselor or college adviser to discuss his/her academic record and for suggestions about appropriate colleges
  • Investigate sources of financing your child's education

FALL IS A PERFECT TIME TO VISIT RUTGERS

Fall is a perfect time for you to visit our Camden, Newark, or New Brunswick campus (or visit all three!) to experience firsthand Rutgers' dynamic environment. Once you meet our students, see our facilities, and enjoy the high energy that characterizes the university, you'll be "wowed" by the incredible opportunities we offer.

THE EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING

About 500 first-year students interested in sciences, engineering, and pharmacy moved into Rutgers-New Brunswick's newest on-campus housing, the Busch Engineering, Science, and Technology Building (B.E.S.T.), which is comprised of three four-story buildings offering suite-style apartments, a computer lab, study and recreational space, and enchanced opportunities for interaction between students and faculty.

Also opening this fall is the new Livingston Dining Commons which seats about 900 people. A second-story bridge connects it with the Livingston Student Center and the Kilmer Library. These surround an outdoor plaza that will serve as a new social activity focal point.

A number of other exciting academic, research, and residential facilities have been recently completed or are under construction, including the new Livingston Campus student housing complex that will accommodate 1,500 students and is scheduled to open in fall 2012. Learn more about Rutgers' exciting building and campus improvement projects.

FELLOWSHIPS & AWARDS INCREASING

Thanks largely to the efforts of Dr. Arthur Casciato, director of Rutgers' Office of Distinguished Fellowships since 2007, increasing numbers of Rutgers undergraduates are being awarded highly prestigious fellowships including Fulbright, Gates, Goldwater, and Churchill fellowships.

Rutgers students learn about fellowship opportunities through Dr. Casciato's many outreach efforts, and work with him one-on-one throughout the fellowship application process. More
