About Mathematics

Mathematics is a rigorous and demanding intellectual pursuit. It is also interesting, exciting and challenging. Majors like its clarity and the satisfaction of knowing that they have the right answer to a problem. Graduate schools in medicine, law, and business think mathematics is a great major because it develops analytical skills and the ability to work in a problem-solving environment. Their entrance tests support this bias, so the more math you know, the better you will do on their exams.

You will take a variety of courses in the areas of algebra, geometry, calculus, mathematical reasoning, and differential equations. In addition, the program provides several areas of specialization, including standard, teaching, computer-oriented, statistics-mathematics, and biomathematics. These programs are designed to cultivate both technical skills and a conceptual grasp of the underlying theory. This program takes into consideration the specific needs of adult and nontraditional students and University College-New Brunswick endorses it as an adult-friendly & working-professional program.
