About Physical Therapy - B.S./D.P.T. 4+3 Program

Starting fall 2018 first-year admitted students can apply to a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) 4+3 Program. This is a program jointly between Rutgers Department of Kinesiology and Health and the School of Health Professions Doctor of Physical Therapy programs.

Students must be first-year students admitted to either the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) or the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) to participate in this program. Unfortunately this specific program is not open to transfer students. However, transfer students can still major in Exercise Science and receive assistance from the Department of Kinesiology and Health to apply to the Rutgers Doctor of Physical Therapy programs or any other DPT program they desire.

Students will declare the major in Exercise Science and apply to the Pre-PT Concentration in the spring of the first year. Students must complete the following pre-requisite courses in the fall of the first year: General Biology 01:119:115 and Foundations of Kinesiology and Health 01:377:140.   Students must maintain a minimum of 3.3 GPA during first year fall semester, and can have no more than 1 grade of C in any course to apply to the Pre-PT Concentration. Students in the Pre-PT Concentration will apply to the DPT 4+3 program in the summer of their second year with acceptance in the fall of the third year. To apply to the DPT 4+3 Program students will be required to have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA and all course grades must be a B or higher.
