Frederick Douglass Field Naming Ceremony at Rutgers–Newark
Famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass visited Newark 170 years ago to rally action around the abolition of slavery. He gave a speech at the Plane Street Colored Church, located at the site which is now Rutgers–Newark's Frederick Douglass Field.

Housing & Residence Life
The Rutgers–Newark campus boasts five full-scale residence halls offering comfortable, spacious suites and apartments with modern amenities and the conveniences of home. Grab a snack and coffee from Starbucks in the Robeson Campus Center or Rutgers Business School and walk to class from any dorm in less than 10 minutes. The newest living environment opened on campus in Fall 2021 and features state-of-the-art dorms, classrooms, work spaces, and parking. Rutgers–Newark is proud to have the historic Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hall as a student residence on campus.
