Activate Your NetID
Your first step is to activate your Rutgers NetID to access many of the electronic services available to you at Rutgers. Next, enroll in a two-step login with Duo. To protect Rutgers’ data and information security, the university will require all students to use a two-step login with Duo to access most services and tools requiring a NetID login.
Accept Your Offer by May 1, 2025
Ready to say “Yes” to Rutgers! Tell us by accepting your offer of admission and paying your $150 enrollment fee through your Rutgers Application Portal no later than June 1, 2024. Within 2-3 business days of paying the enrollment fee, access your myRutgers Dashboard to learn more about the next steps, such as course registration, housing and dining, financial aid, billing, final transcripts, new student orientation, and more.

Accept Your Admission

Accept our offer of admission in the Rutgers Application Portal by May 1, pay your $150 enrollment fee, and view all required steps for a newly admitted Rutgers–Newark student at go.rutgers.edu/portal.

Activate your Rutgers NetID at netid.rutgers.edu.

Access the myRutgers Dashboard at my.rutgers.edu to complete all the required Enrollment Pathway steps.

Financial Aid Reminder

February 1 is the Rutgers priority filing deadline for the 2024-25 FAFSA, so you should act quickly if you have not yet applied. Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application (NJAFAA).

With the delayed release of the new FAFSA, you will receive financial aid notification in spring 2025. For more info, check here.

Financial aid award letters will be available online starting in spring for all admitted students who submitted a FAFSA by spring 2025.

Fall Enrollment Financial Aid Deadlines:

Reminder: Accept Your Enrollment
- May 1 Deadline: Accept our offer of admission to Rutgers–Newark through the Application Portal by May 1.
On-Campus Housing
- Apply for on-campus housing no later than June.
Financial Aid: Expanded RU-N to TOP Information
- Learn more about Expanded Rutgers University–Newark Talent and Opportunity Pathways (RU-N to the TOP) financial aid program, including deadlines for fall enrollment. (Eligibility requirements must be met.)
- For RU-N to the TOP all students – must complete and submit the Admissions Application and the FAFSA or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application.
Submit Immunization Records
- Prior to the start of your first term at Rutgers–Newark, you are required to submit a Pre-Entrance Health Record Form showing proof of vaccinations. Submit your immunization health records.

Your final records must include certification of any diplomas or degrees and final grades for courses in progress at the time of your admission. These documents must be mailed in a sealed envelope to:

I-20
- Submit the required documents for your I-20 between January and June.
- To receive your I-20, you must accept our offer of admission and submit the necessary financial documents dated January 1 or later.

- Sign up for on-campus housing and/or dining from mid-February–June.
Forms
- After you have enrolled, access forms through the Rutgers Application Portal and activate your NetID through the Enrollment Pathway at myRutgers Dashboard.

Merit Scholarships
- Look for scholarship notification in March-April.
- Only those selected are notified. No separate application is required. Learn more about scholarships.
- In order to receive a merit scholarship, awarded students must accept your Rutgers University—Newark offer of admission no later than May 1. Rutgers University—Newark merit scholarships are not transferable internally from school to school or to the New Brunswick or Camden campuses.

2025 Undergraduate Admitted Student Day Events
- March 29th and April 12th
Placement Testing
- Complete placement tests from March –June . Tests are administered online. Activate your NetID through the myRutgers Dashboard to access the tests.
I-20
- Obtain your I-20, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee, and apply for a visa between March–July.
- After receiving your I-20 from Rutgers, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee at fmjfee.com and apply for your visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate. The fee may be waived for current visa holders. Visit ice.gov/sevis/i901/faq for more information.
Required Orientation
All newly admitted and enrolled International students are required to attend student orientation.

Accept Your Offer
- Accept our offer of admission by May 1 through the Rutgers Application Portal.
Academic Advising
- Attend an academic advising program available from May–August.
- Meet with advisers and obtain assistance in selecting appropriate courses.
- Academic advising is also offered to students during International Student Orientation. Find more information at admissions.rutgers.edu/pathway.
Credit Evaluation: Transfer Students Only
- Receive your credit evaluation
- May–August
- All transfer students who have accepted our offer of admission will receive a credit evaluation by the appropriate academic dean’s office.
- New Jersey community college students should visit njtransfer.org to view the ability to transfer courses
Required On-campus International Student Orientation Planning:
All newly admitted and enrolled international students are required to attend student orientation.
- Register for International Student Orientation at myRutgers Dashboard from March–late August.
