Important Deadlines: 

• December 7 – Last day for all undergraduate admitted students to accept their offer of admission and enroll for the spring semester

Accept Your Admission

• Accept our offer of admission in the Rutgers Application Portal, pay your $150 enrollment fee, and view all required steps for a newly admitted Rutgers–Newark student at go.rutgers.edu/portal.

• Activate your Rutgers NetID at netid.rutgers.edu.

• Access the myRutgers Dashboard at my.rutgers.edu to complete all the required Enrollment Pathway steps.

• Submit your official final transcript to:

Financial Aid Reminder

• January 15, 2026 is the Rutgers priority filing deadline for the 2026-27 FAFSA, so you should act quickly if you have not yet applied. Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application (NJAFAA).

• Rutgers’ federal school code is 002629.

• With the delayed release of the new FAFSA, you will receive financial aid notification in spring 2026. For more info, check here.

• Financial aid award letters will be available online starting in spring for all admitted students who submitted a FAFSA by the January 15 priority deadline.

• Look for scholarship notification in the spring as well. Only those selected are notified. No separate application is required. Learn more about scholarships.

Fall Enrollment Financial Aid Deadlines:

• January 15 – Complete the FAFSA or NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application (NJAFAA).
• August 1 – Complete all financial aid requirements/requests for documentation.

Rutgers and HESAA deadlines for 2026–2027

• For all other applicants - students who received a Tuition Aid Grant in AY 2025-26 and want to renew their aid for AY 2026-27 are to meet the following deadlines:
  • Spring only semester: The deadline is February 15, 2026
• For all other applicants - high school seniors, first-time college students, and students who did not receive a Tuition Aid Grant in AY 2025-2026 are to meet the following deadlines:
  • Fall only semester: The deadline is September 15, 2026.

Campus Housing

• Sign up for on-campus housing and/or dining from mid-February–June.

• The university requires all students to use a two-step login with Duo to access most services and tools requiring a NetID login, including the myRutgers dashboard. To learn more and enroll, follow the steps at it.rutgers.edu/two-step-login/.

Placement Tests

• Complete placement tests from March–June .

• Placement testing for math, English, and most foreign languages is conducted online.

• Activate your NetID through the myRutgers Dashboard.

• Complete tests within 30 days of accepting your offer of admission unless you are awaiting accommodations.

May–August: Make Sure You Do the Following

• Meet with advisers and obtain assistance in selecting appropriate courses.

• You are more likely to graduate on time by registering for at least 15 credits per semester.

Attend Student Orientation, Advisement, and Registration (SOAR)

• Meet other new students, familiarize yourself with campus, and have your questions answered.

• Spring and summer dates for SOAR Days are posted at myRutgers Dashboard. Register to attend a session through your Enrollment Pathway at myRutgers.edu

• If you or your family members have questions related to placement testing, orientation, or registration, please email SOAR@newark.rutgers.edu.

• Apply for on-campus housing no later than June.

Financial Aid: Expanded RU-N to TOP Information 

• Learn more about Expanded Rutgers University–Newark Talent and Opportunity Pathways (RU-N to the TOP) financial aid program, including deadlines for fall enrollment. (Eligibility requirements must be met.)
• For RU-N to the TOP all students – must complete and submit the Admissions Application and the FAFSA or the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application.

Submit Immunization Records

• Prior to the start of your first term at Rutgers–Newark, you are required to submit a Pre-Entrance Health Record Form showing proof of vaccinations. Submit your immunization health records.

Submit Final Transcripts

• Submit your final official transcripts/certificates (first-year students only) by July 1.

• Your final records must include certification of any diplomas or degrees and final grades for courses in progress at the time of your admission. These documents must be mailed in a sealed envelope to:

International Admitted Students

Important Dates for Spring 2026:

• December 1, 2025: Deadline for international students to accept RU-N’s admission offer
• December 8, 2025: Deadline to submit all international documents (International Student Financial Statement, Passport copy, Bank Letter, ISAR, Current Visa, I-94, etc.) must be received in admissions
• December 22, 2025: Deadline to issue I-20s within 20 days prior to the beginning of the spring 2026 semester

Important Dates for Fall 2026:

• June 12 – Deadline for international students to apply by submitting an application
• June 26 – Deadline Transcripts/ ELP Scores are due to the Office of Admissions
• July 6 – Deadline Admission decision will go out to the students for fall 2026
• July 13- Deadline for admitted students to accept their offer of admission for fall 2026 to Rutgers–Newark
• July 20 - Deadline for all F-1 students to submit the required documents for I-20 processing
• July 20- Deadline for submission of all international documents including the following to the Office of Admissions (International Student Financial Statement, Passport copy, Bank Letter, ISAR, Current Visa, I-94, etc)
• July 20- Deadline to submit documents via Sunapsis
• July 30– Deadline for all documents received will be reviewed by the Office of Admissions
• August 1 - Deadline for transfer international students (in-country F-1’s) to submit documents for their I-20
• August 27 and 28 - Participate in the international student orientation program

I-20

• Submit the required documents for your I-20 between January and June.
• To receive your I-20, you must accept our offer of admission and submit the necessary financial documents dated January 1 or later.

Housing

• Sign up for on-campus housing and/or dining from mid-February–June.

Forms

• After you have enrolled, access forms through the Rutgers Application Portal and activate your NetID through the Enrollment Pathway at myRutgers Dashboard.

Merit Scholarships

• Look for scholarship notification in March-April.
• Only those selected are notified. No separate application is required. Learn more about scholarships.
• In order to receive a merit scholarship, awarded students must accept your Rutgers University—Newark offer of admission no later than May 1. Rutgers University—Newark merit scholarships are not transferable internally from school to school or to the New Brunswick or Camden campuses.

I-20

• Obtain your I-20, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee, and apply for a visa between March–July.
• After receiving your I-20 from Rutgers, pay your SEVIS I-901 fee at fmjfee.com and apply for your visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate. The fee may be waived for current visa holders. Visit ice.gov/sevis/i901/faq for more information.

Required Orientation

All newly admitted and enrolled International students are required to attend student orientation.

• Register for International Student Orientation at myRutgers Dashboard from March–late August.

Accept Your Offer

• Accept our offer of admission by May 1 for fall enrollment through the Rutgers Application Portal.

Academic Advising

• Attend an academic advising program available from May–August.
• Meet with advisers and obtain assistance in selecting appropriate courses.
• Academic advising is also offered to students during International Student Orientation. Find more information at admissions.rutgers.edu/pathway.

Credit Evaluation: Transfer Students Only

• Receive your credit evaluation
• May–August
  • All transfer students who have accepted our offer of admission will receive a credit evaluation by the appropriate academic dean’s office.
  • New Jersey community college students should visit njtransfer.org to view the ability to  transfer courses

Required On-campus International Student Orientation Planning:

All newly admitted and enrolled international students are required to attend student orientation.

• Register for International Student Orientation at myRutgers Dashboard from March–late August.
• Please start your preparation and planning to attend the International Student Orientation on the Rutgers-Newark campus being held on August

• Prepare for arrival in the U.S. from June–August.
