Tour Rutgers–New Brunswick

Your Tour Starts Here!

Undergraduate Admissions is ready to welcome you to campus! We offer general campus tours of Rutgers–New Brunswick, consisting of our five campuses across Piscataway, NJ and New Brunswick, NJ. These tours are considered introductory – designed to provide a general overview of the Rutgers student experience. These tours do not go over specific academic schools or majors. Our spring tours are focused on assisting our fall 2023 admitted students. Prospective students and their families should register for prospective student tours only. Additional prospective student tours will be available during summer and fall 2023.

At this time, we are unable to take guests inside residence halls and other select buildings on campus due to safety protocols in place by Rutgers University. You can view residence halls on the Residence Life website. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit.

Admitted Student Information Session and Bus Tour

Admitted fall 2023 students and their guests will attend an information session presented by student Scarlet Ambassadors and an Undergraduate Admissions representative, which will go over the basics of Rutgers–New Brunswick and the next steps after admission.

Following the information session, admitted students and their guests will be led on a five-campus bus tour of Rutgers–New Brunswick, which introduces visitors to campus life by highlighting the academic and student experience. This tour will last about two hours and is for admitted fall 2023 students only.

Prospective Student Information Session and Tours

Prospective Student Information Session & College Avenue Campus Walking Tour

  • Take a deep dive where Rutgers–New Brunswick originated: our College Avenue campus! Prospective students will attend an information session that provides a general overview of Rutgers–New Brunswick presented by student Scarlet Ambassadors, followed by a walking tour of the College Avenue campus. Students will learn about campus life, general academic offerings, and have the ability to speak with current Rutgers–New Brunswick students about their experience. This tour will last about 2.5 hours. Guests will be required to provide their own transportation from the Busch campus for the information session to the College Avenue campus for the tour. More prospective student tours will be available during summer and fall 2023 for students interested in 2024 enrollment, which will include more information on the application process.

 

Prospective Student Information Session & Five-Campus Bus Tour

  • Prospective students and their guests are invited on a bus tour to get a general overview of Rutgers–New Brunswick’s five-campus system and to learn about campus life! Guests will also attend an information session that gives an “at a glance” overview of Rutgers–New Brunswick, presented by student Scarlet Ambassadors. This tour will last about 2 hours.

 

Students looking for more information on the admissions and application process should attend a summer or fall 2023 prospective student tour as the 2024 application information is not available at this time.

Virtual Campus Tours

Can’t make it to campus? Admitted and prospective students, along with their families, are invited to attend a virtual campus tour. This virtual tour of Rutgers–New Brunswick is hosted live by current student Scarlet Ambassadors and gives you an inside look at the highlights of Rutgers–New Brunswick's five-campus system! As an attendee, you will have the opportunity to write in any questions that you have about navigating campus, the student experience, general academic information, or any other topics, and our Scarlet Ambassadors will answer them live!

Get Started:

  1. Download the Rutgers–New Brunswick app via the Apple or Google Play Store. 
  2. Tap on the “Rutgers–New Brunswick Tours” guide. Open the sidebar in the upper left corner. Read the information for visiting campus, how to use this guide, and parking information. 
  3. Select “tour options” and then “campus tours.” 
  4. Choose your campus and enjoy!

Group Tours

Rutgers–New Brunswick is currently not accepting group tour requests at this time. We are not conducting group tours for spring 2023. If you are interested in bringing your group to campus in the future, you can fill out our group tour interest form below. Please note, this form is for high schools and community-based organizations only and should not be completed by prospective students.

Our group tours include a brief Rutgers–New Brunswick information session and a College Avenue campus walking tour. Group tours are typically limited to select Thursday mornings during the fall and spring semesters.

Undergraduate Admissions hosts tours during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. The schedule of our tours changes each semester. Tour schedules will be posted as follows. Tour FAQs

  • Due to spacing limitations, all students are only able to bring two guests with them on their tour. Guests must be registered in advance prior to attending a tour.

  • We do not have waitlists for our tours. Guests must be registered in advance to attend a campus tour. You can keep checking back on the registration site, as additional spaces will open up for guests that cancel.

  • While most academic schools have “headquarters” on a specific campus, it does not mean that campus is geared toward that specific school or major. Students at Rutgers–New Brunswick will take classes on all 5 campuses.

    Please note our campus tours provide a general overview of academics and campus life at Rutgers–New Brunswick. For specific school/academic events, visit our School and Academic Events website, or view each school’s website here. School and academic tours are managed by the academic schools and are not affiliated with Undergraduate Admissions. Please contact academic schools directly for information about school and academic events.

  • No. The School of Arts and Sciences does not host school/academic events. In addition, all upper division schools (Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, School of Communication and Information, School of Management and Labor Relations, School of Social Work) do not offer tours for first-year students.

  • Admitted students are encouraged to attend an admitted student information session and bus tour to learn more about admission next steps, such as how to activate a NetID, how to apply for housing, how to access financial aid award information, New Student Orientation, and much more. This information is not relevant to prospective students. Prospective students should attend a prospective student tour to learn more about the basics of Rutgers University–New Brunswick before applying.

  • Guests who are registered for a walking tour are required to provide their own transportation from the Busch campus where the information session will be held, to the College Avenue campus where the tour begins. Guests who are unable to secure transportation should consider registering for a prospective student bus tour. More prospective student bus tours will be offered during our summer and fall prospective student programming.

  • Our walking tours are intensive and last about 80-90 minutes. Our walking tour is accessible for those in wheelchairs, but guests who are unable to walk for a long period of time should consider attending a prospective student bus tour. More bus tours will be offered during our summer and fall prospective student programming.

  • Yes! Guests can explore campus on their own with our self-guided walking tours via the Rutgers–New Brunswick mobile app. Learn more about self-guided tours here.

  • Rutgers–New Brunswick is not allowed to tour residence halls due to the safety of the students. You can view residence halls on the Residence Life website. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit.

  • Rutgers–New Brunswick is currently not conducting spring 2023 group tours. If you are interested in bringing your group to campus in the future, you can fill out our group tour interest form.

  • Yes. Rutgers–New Brunswick’s five campuses span across the towns of Piscataway and New Brunswick. While check-in and the information sessions are held on the Busch campus in Piscataway, the tours cover information specific to Rutgers University–New Brunswick.

  • Rutgers–New Brunswick does not provide open houses for prospective students. Please choose from any of our campus tour offerings to learn more about Rutgers–New Brunswick and its admissions process. More prospective student tours will be available during the summer and fall of 2023.

    Admitted Student Open House 2023 information will be emailed to admitted students in early February.
